In addition to the Mamava launch, the retailer has introduced a Breast Pump Program that enables expectant moms to receive a premium breast pump covered by their insurance, without even leaving home. The Mamava pods are intended for select stores without a Mother’s Room. Walmart already has Mother’s Rooms in several hundred stores for the use of associates and customers. In addition to the current rollout of the pods in more than 100 stores across the United States by the end of this year, more are planned in the years to come. The launch follows a successful pilot at three Walmart stores in 2019. The Walmart-Mamava relationship began when Walmart associate and new mother Tennille Webb came across a Mamava pod while traveling and urged the retailer to install them. “Walmart’s commitment to supporting breastfeeding associates and community members with Mamava pods is a huge leap forward for inclusivity and normalizing breastfeeding culture.” “We started Mamava to ensure that every breastfeeding mother could choose whether or not to breastfeed, so we set out to remove all barriers to making that choice,” explained Sascha Mayer, CEO and co-founder of the Burlington, Vermont-based company. She can also leave digital notes of encouragement for other moms. The app opens the pod and enables the mom to adjust the lighting and airflow, as well as listen to soothing sounds. The pods are accessed via the Mamava app, which leads a user to a pod’s location. The suites, or pods, are free-standing spaces that offer a clean, comfortable and private option for nursing mothers to breastfeed or pump. Walmart has revealed plans to install Mamava lactation suites at more than 100 locations this year, making it the first retailer to do so in a store setting.

With most internal school system forms I will just start with Chrome and not try to fight it.Īpple: it seems that its more important to be different than it is to be better. Streaming live high school baseball games, no on Safari, delays of several minutes at times I won’t change to Windows, although streaming of live video definitely works better, no “spinning wheel of death” even given the overhead of of running Windows on top of Parallels, no issues there at all. And in the school system where I work, I don’t even attempt Safari except for things that I already know will work, but not to edit a piece produced on Chrome by someone else. The most infuriating thing is that it may be a form with 100 dialogue boxes and there are 2 or 3 dialogue boxes that invalidate an hours work! With most forms I will just start with Chrome and not try to fight it. Just this morning I spent an hour filling out a form regarding an insurance claim and found out that there were dialogue boxes that simply cannot be filled out no matter what you do. If you want to check out it on the most recent software package, you can try out out macOS Ventura as a developer or public user as nicely by way of Apple’s beta systems.Good luck, as Safari becomes less and less compatible with the world every day I detest Google and object to having to use Google Chrome, but every day there are more and more forms in government and education that just can’t be completed in Safari. It’s at this time unclear when the functions in Safari Technology Preview 152 will make it to the typical general public. Unfortunately the supplier, The Briquette Company, doesn’t want to do business with southern softies, or for anyone else outside their immediate area. I considered buying a sample bag of one of the other heat logs on test, Easy Logs. Any holes in the bags would render the logs unusable. Storing the bags next to the boat wouldn’t work. We can keep it there and bring two or three bags back to the boat as and when we need it. Heat logs need to be kept completely dry.įortunately Sally and I have a storage unit, a twenty foot container, a couple of miles from the boat. However if they come into contact with water they act like a sponge, expand to twice their size and prove very difficult to light. They’re softwood so they’re not particularly good but they work very well if they’re kept dry. I don’t use them often so a pack of ten kept in a cupboard is enough to provide a quick burst of heat if the boat is cold when I get up in the morning. Heat logs are an entirely different matter. Wet coal is messy to handle but the fuel still lights easily enough. Although the coal is stored in plastic bags to keep them dry, sometimes the bags have holes in them. ![]() I store them on the walkway next to the boat. Where can I store them? I buy Pureheat ten at a time. The option I would prefer is the 50 bags at £3.64 each. The heat logs work of cheaper than my current Pureheat, but it’s not the only consideration. The cost of the heat logs for the same weight fuel is £9.98, £9.10 and £8.27. The fuel that I use at the moment, Pureheat in 25kg bags, costs me £10.78 a bag. The high density heat logs are available singly at £3.99 each, in packs of fifty for £183.75 (£3.68 each) and in packs of 100 for £364.09 ( £3.64 each). There are a number of factors that will determine whether we switch to heat logs full time. Each 10kg sample bag costs £15 including delivery. I’ve ordered two 10kg sample bags from .uk one bag of Ecofire high density heat logs and one of their Ecofire oak nuggets. As the dust created by our coal use drives Sally mad, I thought I would run my own test to see how the briquettes fare in real life. The best fuel on test appeared to be wood briquettes. Newspaper logs may be free to produce yourself once you’ve bought an inexpensive log maker, but they are time consuming and messy to make, leave a lot of unburned ash/fuel and don’t produce much heat. Peat is difficult to light and doesn’t produce much heat. Peat and newspaper logs didn’t fare very well at all. Seasoned wood only produced about 60% of the heat produced by either coal or wood briquettes. Even then, the results weren’t very impressive. The Waterways World testers used wood that had been seasoned for over a year. It’s not going to dry there, so it’s not going to burn very well. You’ll see many liveaboard narrowboats with logs stored on the boat’s roof. ![]() You certainly don’t have the space inside your boat and, unless you have a permanent mooring with dry canalside storage, you don’t have the space outside either. If you live on your boat you probably don’t have anywhere to store your wood to dry it out. If the wood you burn isn’t dry, much of the energy produced during burning is used to evaporate the water in the wood rather than producing heat. It needs to be stored under cover for at least six months so that it can dry out. Wood, with the exception of ash, can’t be used immediately. Even though wood can be sourced for free as you cruise the network, it’s just not practical to use it. The clinical tests proved what I have suspected for a long time. They actually produced slightly more room heat than coal. Of course, the heat produced by the fuel is the most important factor and the wood briquettes scored well there too. The four wood briquettes tested produced just 8% – 11% of the volume of ash – and possibly dust – produced by the coal. “ No surprise there!”, said Sally waving her duster around for the umpteenth time that day. ![]() Of all the fuel coal briquettes produced the most ash and unburned fuel. The testers recorded stove heat, room heat and the volume of ash and unburned fuel for each of the products tested. They tested coal briquettes, wood briquettes, wood, straw logs, newspaper logs and peat. It’s fascinating reading if your boat’s main heat source is going to be a solid fuel stove. Waterways World tested stove fuel in their March 2013 edition. What do you think of running macOS Monterey on an unsupported Mac? Is this something you have done or would consider doing?ġ. Nonetheless that video is embedded below as you may find it to be helpful as a resource: If following text tutorials isn’t your thing, Mr Macintosh has a 23 minute walkthrough video for installing Monterey on an unsupported Mac, though this method uses an external SSD drive and is slightly different from how OpenCore Legacy Patcher does their own text based tutorial. It’s also possible that some of the problems with macOS Monterey would be worse on an unsupported Mac, and you certainly won’t be getting official Apple support for any issues encountered on unsupported hardware. The older the Mac, the less stellar the performance will be, whereas later model unsupported Macs can run Monterey just fine (for example, the 2014 MacBook Pro line).Īlso, many older Macs will not include features that are new to Monterey, which may be the only reason you’d want Monterey to begin with, like Live Text for example. How to Install macOS Monterey on Unsupported Mac Some Macs will not run that well or with certain issues, whereas others, like the 2012 MacBook Pro, runs fine. You’ll also need a USB flash drive that is 16GB of larger, the full MacOS Monterey installer (you can download it here), the OpenCore Legacy Patcher itself, and of course you’ll need a Mac that doesn’t officially support MacOS Monterey, but that is supported by the OpenCore patcher. Prerequisites for running macOS Monterey on an unsupported MacĪs always, you’ll want to be sure you have a full backup of your Mac with Time Machine ready to go before proceeding with anything like this. First of all, if you do not like these buttons at all, you can go here, and if you want more real estate, you can just go ahead and uncheck. And this allows me to do a couple of things. Gonna go back and make this fit into the window. Well this is actually something that, again, a lot of people don't go into. Let's see what other little tricks that I use. If you select a clip and try it, basically it's just like hitting a key that doesn't do anything. And it works with in and out points, not with selecting a clip. That is a lot easier than grabbing them, dragging them up to another track, dragging them down, figuring out where you want them later. Command + V paste, and now I've pasted them to another part of my timeline. It still is being held in the mysterious world of the clipboard. But I want to go ahead, and I want to put it here at the end of my timeline. Okay? I want to extract it, because I don't want to leave a space. So I may want to move a big chunk from here. So if I do an extract, I can go ahead to another part of my timeline, and hit Command + V, and paste back everything I removed. And if you look at the screen it actually saves what you extracted in the clipboard. Now what's interesting, is when you do an extract. If I use the semicolon key, it removes everything between the in and the out point, but leaves the gap. So, I'm pretty sure these are the ones, if I hit the apostrophe, it removes everything between the in and the out points, and closes the space. They're the semi-colon and the apostrophe. And the extract, and the lift tools, are on your keyboard next to J, K and L. And this can be within the body of a clip, or this can actually be a row of multiple clips. And it doesn't work with clip selection, it works with marking of in and out points. But there is also something called a lift edit, and an extract edit. It removes it, and ripples, and closes the space. ![]() I think it's Option + Delete on a Mac, or Command. If I hold the modifier, and it's different for Windows and Mac. So if I select a clip, and I just put the play head over the clip and I hit the Delete key, we saw we can remove any clip that's selected. There's a couple different ways that you can remove clips. Features: Premiere Pro 2021 and above Compatible Project. Except in dark bars of nerds who teach Premiere Pro. That's again, one of the really really cool features that nobody really talks about. And that's really pretty slick, you want to switch out a shot, but you don't want to deal with copying and pasting all the effects that you did on the first shot, you can simply drag it, hold down the Option key, let go on top of the other clip, and you've done a replace edit and kept all the original effects. But if I drag it on top, and I hold down, I believe it's the Option key, and let go, what it does is, it replaces the clip, but it keeps all of the effects from the original clip, and puts it on the new clip. and it just replaced it, it's like a perfect replace edit. So I could go ahead, and I could drag this wine image. I can replace this with something called a replace edit, by simply dragging another image onto it. But I just wanted to have an effect on the clip. (mumbles) Don't know, it took it that time. It's just being difficult, it's the end of the day. ![]() ![]() It could be a directional, an omni, a spotlight. And I can make this a little bit bigger for you guys in the back row of the class. Let's go ahead, I actually wanna get where that light is. I can actually move where that spotlight is. I now have the option to put a different type of light on it. Take this thing, I can double-click it, I'm gonna throw it on this clip. You don't have to buy a third party plugin. People don't know lighting effects are in here. Adobe says that it is ‘coming soon,’ but we don’t have any timeframe or hard date, unfortunately.Lighting effects. I am excited to get the update and try out these new features. One area of video that has always given me issues was color correction and modification and this looks to make it not only simpler and easier, but more familiar and with an interface that I am already very comfortable with from using Lightroom. The new color correction panel is called the ‘Lumetri Color Panel’ and it gives you Lightroom-esqe controls for modifying the color and look of your footage right from the Premiere Pro CC itself.Īs I am starting to do more and more video, I think that this is pretty awesome. Obviously, if you are doing any kind of serious color correction, you will want to use a dedicated program like Davinci Resolve or Adobe Speedgrade, but if you just need to make some quick adjustments, or color tweaks, these new upgrades appear to be quite sufficient.
